Hitachi CP-X2010N Troubleshooting

The screen being projected does not show a clear image.

First, check to see if the projector’s lens is potentially blocked or dirty. Use a micro-fiber cloth to gently wipe the lens of the projector.

Verify that the lens of the projector is not cracked or broken. If the lens or bulb of the projector is broken you may need to open up the projector and replace the lens.

Ensure that the projector is on a level ground or adjust the front stands as even a slight deviation can cause the automatic keystone correction to incorrectly work. Use the keystone section in manual mode and use the arrows to see if any changes with the distortion occurs.

Try selecting the computer input type to “Sync On G Off” as having this setting in automatic mode can indeed cause the image to blur on some input signals.

The menu/power buttons will not respond or appear on screen.

When pressing the buttons have no effect on the device, there may be an object inside that is blocking the connection.  To correct the problem, first open the device.  Check to see if there are any obstructions blocking the connectors.  If there are, remove the obstructions that may be blocking the connections.  On some occasions, the connections may become disconnected from the connectors.  If they become disconnected, reconnect them to their original positions.  If a part is dirty, clean it with alcohol and a rag.

While on, the projector becomes abnormally hot and or shuts off.

Check to see if there is anything blocking the fan. If there are any obstructions, remove them. If the fan still isn’t working, it could be broken and you will need to replace it.

Anything impairing proper airflow in the projector could cause overheating. Check to see if there is any dirt or a large build up of dust in the vent or the air filter. If there is any, remove them using an air duster. Replace the air filter if needed.

Upon attempting to power on the projector, there is either no response or a flashing red indicator light by the power button.

Plug the projector into a different outlet to see if the outlet is at fault.

Check the power cable to make sure it is securely plugged into the power plug at back of the projector.

If the power supply is at fault, you may see a blinking red light next to “Lamp” on the top of the projector. If this is the case, you may need to replace either the power supply or motherboard.

If the power indicator is lit red it may indicate that the projector is still cooling off or overheated. Please wait 20 minutes before attempting to turn it back on.

The projector turns on with lights and fans, but no image is being projected from the lens or it’s a plain blue screen telling you to check input.

Check that the lens cap is still not attached to the lens. It’s a simple mistake that could easily be overlooked.

Make sure the VGA cable going from your computer to the projector is not damaged in any way and the connectors at each end are clean and the prongs are not bent. If there is obvious damage on the cable or connector, replace the cable. Press the Input button on the top of the projector to make sure the input is set to the correct connection on the back of the projector.

Press the Standby/On button to make sure the projector isn’t simply in Standby mode.
