Background
Created in 2006, the Ridgid R2601 Random Orbit Sander is a handheld 5” sander. It has a detachable dust collection bag that collects 90% of dust, and comes with a carrying case. It has a variable speed magnetic motor that provides constant speed and power, and the dust hose fits standard 2 ½” or 2 ¼“ collection bags. There are no known failure modes or manufacturer recalls. It is similar to the R2611, but to tell these two sanders apart, the R2611 is 6” and the R2601 is 5”.
