Usb-c not charging
USB c port not gripping cable
Is this a good question?
Unfortunately for us, one of the few major issues I have with our Pixels is Google's decision to mount the USB port on the motherboard rather than going with a separate, inexpensive and easily replaceable daughter card like most other Android phones.
That makes replacing the USB port a major issue requiring a hot air station and microsoldering expertise rather than just a case of opening the back and swapping out a tiny circuit board. So I'm sorry to say, this is one of those rare cases where I would suggest a repair shop rather than attempting to DIY the job. The closest we can come to helping you fix this yourself (unless you have better than average soldering skills, that is) is to point you to a guide showing you how to remove the motherboard, but I'm afraid after that you're on your own. There are plenty of online videos showing how to remove a USB-C port that might help if you want to attempt it.

Thanks Jeremy for the advice. It is unlikely to be cost effective to take to the repair shop given the age and condion of the handset so I'll get a newer one, probably not a Pixel, thanks again.

@georgehaveron You never know; UBreakIFix is Google's official repair service and they offer free diagnostics and will give you a quote on replacing your charging port. Google AI suggests costs run around $80-$100, which to me would be well worth the cost - certainly cheaper than buying a new one!
