PLEASE HELP! Problem getting stand back into the display.

Hello! I have an Apple Cinema Display and we had to remove the stand for transport when moving. Long story, doesn't matter. Anyway! We removed the stand, no problem. I slipped a credit card in, click, the hinge came out and we unscrewed it, all good.

I went to put the stand back on, and the hinge is back inside the monitor. Must have happened while in transport. I cannot seem to get it back out. I've tried a card at a 45 degree angle while using a siding removal tool to lift the hinge from the center button and it will only come up flush, not come all the way out, AND it requires a fair amount of pull to get it to come that far. Not enough to break anything, but a bit of force.

Everything I've read said that I should be able to insert a card bent with a 45° angle and just hit the little latch and bring the hinge out again but I just cannot seem to make it work. Wondering if the community has any ideas. My last ditch would be to actually remove the glass and take apart the monitor to release the hinge and I don't wanna have to go through all that if possible.

I uploaded a video that shows what I mean here: https://youtube.com/shorts/Jt1xTgI1XdY?f...

Thanks for any help!
Daniel

The plastic you are using is not strong enough to move the latch, try using an old credit card or one of these Plastic Cards

Use a pot of hot water to bend it if needed.

Handy tool for opening devices, spreading thermal paste, and scraping. Same as Apple Tool Part# 922-7172 Image

Thanks. I did try an old credit card, but I'll try again!

I've tried two different credit cards, still no luck. The hinge will lift to be flush with the opening, but it will NOT come out so I can put the stand back on. So frustrating. Any other ideas?

I GOT IT! I was able to use credit card cut in half to push down on the lever inside and then MAN, I had to pull up on that hinge with serious force! I was sweating! But it finally came all the way up and locked in place so I was able to get the stand screwed back on, and the a quick slip of a thin card in to release the hinge back into the display. THANK YOU!
