Apple's top-of-the-line flagship for 2022. Released September 16th, the iPhone 14 Pro Max sports a 6.7" ProMotion OLED, the new Bionic A16 chip, a triple rear camera system, and 5G connectivity. Successor to the iPhone 13 Pro Max.

Phone getting warm after housing replacement

I replaced the housing on an iPhone 14 pro max. Customer complaint is that the phone gets warm and eventually becomes sluggish. I used an OEM pull with small parts. I did transfer the charge port. The proximity sensor looks fine. It was not removed. The screen was pulled and set aside. I checked the screw layout for the heat shield and it's correct. I also left the proximity sensor unplugged. That didn't fix the issue. I am careful with my repairs as to not damage components. Could the issue be with any of the small parts? Wireless charging pad or power button flex?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

I think you need to look for a short using a IR camera or handheld thermometer to measure things.

As far as the replacement part the term OEM sadly holds no weight as being real. The only two sources for real parts is from a real iPhone junker or directly from Apple as they now sell parts.

What you likely got was a pull from the trash bin where the phone's are made or the part was contracted to be made. Basically, it's likely bad.

Here's the Apple Self Service site Self Service Repair and here's the iPhone 14 Pro Max Repair Manual which also listed the available parts.

Although Apple does make OEM parts available, they do not offer replacement housings for the 14 Pro Max.

@hootonberg - True! Which is why I stated Junker. But you need to discover where the short is as it might be repairable!

I have ordered a replacement proximity sensor, wireless charging flex, and charge port. I do understand these housings don't come directly from Apple, but I've had very little issues with them, so I like to make that distinction given that I've had more issues with the aftermarket versions. Ill wait to get these parts in to test and let you know what fixes it.
