Looking for screen cable cover

Hello everyone,

I broke my pixel 8 screen cable cover (the metal part that goes on the screen connector). So I have the folowing questions:

  • Does anyone has this part available?
  • Is this part important? What could happen if I left the phone without it?

I assume that the part is important otherwise the manufacturer wouldn't need to have it in place. Probably designed to keep the flex cable securely connected and being metal could be being used as a shield as well to stop any electrical interference occurring to the display, touch etc.

It is Google part # G730-06613-22

Only found the one supplier when looking for the part. You may have better luck finding others.

It is shown in the Pixel 8 Repair Manual V2 English Final Version Replacement Parts section on p.26 (of 219 pdf) and is called Display cowling- Sub6 G730-06613-22
