Computer Screen Is Black

The Computer has power but the screen is black.

Faulty Computer Screen

To check if the computer screen is broken is to have access to an external monitor or a TV, something to display the would-be contents of the laptop on a different screen. If an image shows up on the external monitor your computer screen is bad and needs to be replaced.

Faulty RAM

Before replacing the RAM try a hard reset of the computer refer to this link for a guide on how to hard reset your HP computer. If the black screen persists it's a sign that RAM is bad. Consider replacing it with new RAM following this guide here. If RAM was recently replaced ensure that RAM is seated (plugged in) correctly referring to the guide as mentioned earlier.

If the computer has been crashing and restarting spontaneously this could be an indicator that the computer storage is full, to check if the storage,

  2. click on This PC on the left side of the screen
  3. Under OS there should be a line of text that says "XXGB free of XXGB" This will show how much storage is left on the device.

If the storage is low consider deleting old files and programs that are no longer in use or have not been used recently. Alternatively, if you want a fresh start replace the eMMC on this device with this guide here.
