Black and Decker LI2000 Troubleshooting

The screwdriver is plugged into the charger but will not charge.

The charger may not be plugged into a working outlet. You can check that an outlet is working by plugging in a lamp or other appliance. You should also check that the outlet is not connected to a light switch that turns the power to the outlet off when you turn the switch off.

The charger may not be fully inserted into the charging port. Remove the charger and insert it back into the charging port until it will not insert anymore. Also ensure that you are using the manufacturer provided charger.

Check to make sure the power charger is plugged in. If it is, make sure the light on the charger is on. If the light is not on, the charger is plugged in, and you have tried the troubleshooting steps above, the charger is faulty. Consider purchasing a new charger.

The drive bit is falling out of the screwdriver or lose.

The guides inside the hex spindle might not be bent enough. Check this by turning off the screwdriver and using a flashlight to look down the barrel of the hex spindle. If the guides appear to be too bent or not bent enough, attempt to bend them back using a pair of needle nose pliers.

Make sure the bit is fully inserted into the hex spindle of the screwdriver. Make sure the power slider is positioned in the center and remove the bit. Reinsert the bit into the hex spindle. When the bit is fully inserted you should hear the bit click into position when it contacts with the magnet inside of the well for the bits to sit.

The battery doesn't last as long as advertised.

The screwdriver battery may be past it's allowed charged time and may need to be placed on the charger for an extended period of time, try about a day. If you want to replace the battery please please see the Black & Decker LI2000 Battery replacement guide.

Pushing the buttons on the screwdriver, but nothing happens.

There could be something inside of the screwdriver like debris that is keeping the button from making contact inside of the drill.

There could be an issue with the drive selector button/trigger. It could be broken and need to be replaced.

Cannot move the drill into the different positions with the pivot selector

The pivot button in the center of the screwdriver may just have something caught inside of it that is keeping it from releasing. Cleaning out the button cavity may resolve this issue.

There could be an issue with the internals of the drill where the spring is located that controls the pivot. Some of these components may need to be replaced to resolve this issue.
