Girlfriend's laptop was running out of storage
My Fix
Extremely straightforward to switch-out the SSD, everything went fine, restored successfully from recovery-mode and a backup done just before the upgrade.
My Advice
Ensure you have backed-up immediately beforehand (maybe backup overnight and do the upgrade in the morning at the weekend?)
