The iPhone 18 Pro was announced on September 9th, 2026 alongside the iPhone Duo and iPhone 18 Pro Max. It's an iteration over the 17 Pro, featuring the same large aluminum unibody coupled with a glass pane underneath the large camera plateau. Just like the last three generations, it has an Action button above the volume buttons and a Camera Control button on the right edge.
The vapor chamber, new for last year, has improved, offering better cooling and 3x the surface area for the new and completely redesigned A20 Pro chip. The screen size remains the same as the previous generation at 6.3 inches.
The rear main 48 MP Fusion camera now features variable aperture and software-adjustable shutter speed. Other improvements include better battery life, faster wired charging, and a smaller Dynamic Island. Curiously, at least in the US, it looks like the regular 18 Pro uses the new C2 modem, but the 18 Pro Max does not.
The iPhone 18 Pro is available in Burgundy, Glacier, Silver, and Black and starts at $1,199.
You can identify the iPhone 18 Pro by the model number printed inside of the USB-C charge port.
You can also find the model number through the phone's UI by going to the Settings app and navigating to General > About. Tap on the number listed in the Model Number section and it should change to a format that looks like the numbers above.
Additionally, Apple offers a quick online tool to help identify your devices: Identify your iPhone model.
The iPhone 18 Pro features a 6.3-inch (diagonal) flat glass screen, thin black bezels, a pill-shaped, black "dynamic island" at the top of the screen, matte back glass with a glossy Apple logo, and aluminum side rails. Its camera "plateau" also reaches across the top left and top right edges of the backside of the phone. The 18 Pro has a small cutout for the Ceramic Shield glass pane underneath the rear cameras.
Volume controls and the Action Button can be found on the left edge, while the power button and Camera Control button are situated on the right. Three cameras protrude from the backside. This model has no home button.
The iPhone 18 Pro can be differentiated from the iPhone 18 Pro Max by its smaller screen (relative to the 6.9-inch screen on the Pro Max model).
The iPhone 18 Pro can be differentiated from the previous generation iPhone 17 Pro by the color matched rear glass panel and smaller Dynamic Island.
