Background
VanMoof was an Amsterdam-based company founded in 2009 by brothers Taco and Ties Carlier. The brothers had a clear vision for VanMoof: they wanted to reinvent city bikes and offer an alternative to the car in urban environments. The company had great success in the first few years. Despite the relatively high purchase prices, the bikes' design caught on and they were soon considered trendy. After a few years, VanMoof concentrated entirely on e-bikes.
