Background
Announced in October 2024—alongside the redesigned Mac mini and refreshed 2024 24" iMac—the quintessential MacBook Pro is updated once again with the Apple M4 Pro and M4 Max chips.
The 14" MacBook Pro shares many of the same features introduced in 2021 and 2023's MacBook Pros, including ProMotion HDR mini-LED displays with a display notch, 1080p webcams, full-size function keys, and the distinctive blacked-out keyboard.
Starting at a $1999, the 2024 14" MacBook Pro (M4 and M4 Max) is available in either Silver or Space Black.
Identification
Identify your MacBook Pro by the model number printed on its back cover.
You can also find the model number through macOS by choosing About This Mac from the Apple menu in the upper-left corner of the screen.

The 2024 MacBook Pro features a large flat glass screen, thin black bezels, a "notch" cutout at the top of the screen, black keys, and an aluminum enclosure. There's a large gloss black Apple logo on the top shell and "MacBook Pro" engraved into the bottom case.
A MagSafe 3 charging port, two USB-C ports, and a headphone jack can be found on the left edge, with an additional USB-C port, HDMI port, and an SD card slot on the right.
