My computer reads "no paper" in the printer. There is paper in the printer.

These are top feed and the Epsons are prone to dust at the top causing issues with this mech - always have. What you need to do is run inkjet cleaning sheets through the feeder, and what I have also done is used canned air to get rid of as much as I can to make it effective.
If the issue still occurs with a cleaning, there's an issue with the sensor or the gears. If you are using standard 20-24lb paper try cleaning it, then clean the sensor if you can access it. The desktop models like this are integrated tightly, to the point you can't easily service them. The SM readily available here: Service Manual
