Yeah, if the ThinkPad is restarting both during boot and while you're working, I’d be looking at hardware or power first, not just Windows. Heat, bad RAM, a failing battery/charger, motherboard power problems, or BIOS/driver issues can all cause random restarts. Lenovo also recommends checking cooling and keeping the BIOS and drivers current.

I’d start with the easy stuff: make sure the fan is running and the vents aren't packed with dust, try it with the charger connected and then on battery, and run Lenovo's hardware diagnostics. If you added RAM recently, reseat it or test the original memory, since bad or incompatible RAM can cause intermittent crashes.

One useful test is to sit in the BIOS for 10–15 minutes without booting Windows. If it restarts while sitting there, I'd strongly suspect hardware, power, heat, or the motherboard. If it stays running in BIOS but keeps restarting in Windows, then I'd start looking at drivers, Windows, or software.
