Neighborhood station, and Chevy Dealership both couldn't fix the reason my truck would intermittently go into safe mode. Chevy had it for over a month, computer was updated then replaced, didn't help. They told me NOT to bring it back. Tried everything I could find in forums and manuals, nothing has helped.

Did they say if any dtc codes (diagnostic troubleshooting) were shown when scanning the vehicle's OBDII port with a scantool?
If not maybe worth a check to see if any are there.
If you're in the USA major retail car auto parts suppliers e.g. AutoZone, PepBoys, O'Reilley's etc will do this for free.

My understanding of OBDII error codes falls into two distinct areas; 1- emissions errors/P type codes easily read by generic readers when the check engine indicator is on and 2- hidden error codes turning on other indicators like the abs light but not turn on the CEL, requiring better readers. Hidden codes are B, C, and U. Autozone can read P and abs (C) codes but still won't decode C and U errors. B- body, C- chassis, U- network.
