Try retrieving stored error codes first from the check engine light turning on. While many error codes point to a faulty sensor, sensors may not be faulty when wiring or mechanical issues interfere with sensor operation. Mileage, maintenance history, current troubleshooting performed? Fuel pressure, spark plugs?
