It makes noise when turned on

@giroudsnyps you are really no providing enough information. We would need to know what kind of noise and what you have already checked etc. In your laptop there really are not to many things that can make a noise. You have your HDD and your fan that you need to check. I'd start with the fan.

Use the HP Pavilion Dv6000 Maintenance And Service Guideto work on that. Page 178 will show you how to go about the fan removal and page 120 about the HDD. I'd start with the fan since it is possible that you heard the noise from the fan which then failed and the computer shut down due to overheating. Clean your air inlets, replace the fan. Of course, you will also have to replace the thermal paste. Here is a generic guide for that How to Apply Thermal Paste. If you are stuck with anything or see something that looks odd, take some pictures and post those with you question. That way we can see what you see.
