Anyone else have a stinky washer?

I bought my front load washer just under 2 years ago. I had been using another brand (that worked very well) for 10 years but stupidly gave the set away because I loved this set in the blue color. It started out fine but for the last 6 months we have to drain it after a few washes because it stinks. I’m talking cess pool stinky! Using a flashlight today we noticed toward the back there appears to be some build up. We don’t want to damage anything so we twisted a sock to try and get out what is in there. I’m really surprised because we are not animals. It’s not like we have muddy disgusting clothes going through the wash. I’m really not sure what to do. I do not shut the door to the washer, so I know that’s not the issue. Has anyone else had this issue and if so, how did you resolve it? Thank you in advance!

Hi @josietorres

The best option is to put 2-3 dishwasher tables crumbled up into the drum and some old towels and select a boil wash (90 Celsius) wash.

The dishwasher tablets will dissolve the grime and dirt buildup on the side of the drum and the towels will help agitating the water to really help clean the side walls that cause the bad odour. Optionally you can add a squirt of bleach in it too.

Once the machine filled up with water, manually add hot water in the machine through the detergent drawer. until it is a couple of inches higher than the bottom edge of the glass panel.

You can let the machine run through the cycle, but you can also switch off the machine halfway through the cycle for about 20-30 minutes for the dishwasher/bleach can really soak in through the buildup in your machine. After that just resume the wash and finish the program.

Don't put any detergent or fabric softener in it when your doing this!

Hope it helps!
