Why was my touchscreen not receiving my inputs?

I tried to link my kobo reader to my computer and when the screen to confirm the linking came up none of my inputs would work ! anywhere i'd tap on the screen, it would do nothing.
I tried unlinkin my tablet, the linking pop-up disapeared but still my inputs weren't recognized by the touchscreen. fortunately, when i powered my tablet off and on and the touchscreen worked again.

Any idea why the touchscreen wouldn't work in that moment ? i also have connectivity problems with my tablet, so mabe this has something to do with it ? it never did that before.
