Yeti 1500X showing under temperature

My Yeti 1500X regularly shows being under temperature, at which point the app indicates the temperature being sub-zero (Celsius) and it will not charge. The unit is kept at room temperature (20-25 Celsius). Sometimes when the 240V output is loaded (>1kW) it can bring the apparent unit temperature back to something sensible and allow charging, but this is intermittent. GoalZero cannot provide any support as I'm in the UK - is there any information on troubleshooting and repairing what is presumably a faulty temperature sensor or circuit?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Hi @nrw

Try a reset (soft and factory - one at a time and check in between resets) and also check that the firmware to up to date and see if that resolves the problem.

Thanks - I've tried both soft and factory resets, and also done a battery reset (press and hold RESET and INFO for 5 seconds). Firmware is on the latest version (1.8.9).

@nrw

best that I can find out is the the temp sensor is a thermistor hard mounted in the BMS section (Battery Management System) on a board in the unit.

As to its specifications idk.

How old is the unit?

There's a 2 year manufacturer's warranty which should apply even if not directly supported by Goal Zero, then by the seller from where you got it.

Unfortunately it's 4 years old so definitely out of warranty. Thanks anyway.

Just wondering if there is anyone out there who has schematics or further diagnostic info for the Yeti 1500X? The unit continues to show under temp (sub-zero) for most of the time that it's idle, although it does often jump back to a realistic temperature when the inverter is operational which sometimes lasts long enough to recharge.
