Hi Michael, When you dropped your iPhone you most likely knocked a connector loose or at worst cracked the soldier joints on the motherboard.

Let's try a few things.

In Settings > General > About, does "Modem Firmware" show a version, or is it blank?

Blank usually indicates a baseband communication problem.

Present means the baseband is at least communicating with iOS.

Dial *#06#*.

  • If the IMEI is missing, the issue is likely with the baseband.
  • If the IMEI appears normally, the fault may be in the RF or an antenna was knocked loose.

The IMEI missing means that your baseband has gone bad and will require expensive board level repair.

At that point, it is better to replace the device then waste money fixing a 7 year old, out of support iPhone.

I recommend a 13 base model or 14 base model as both will get iOS 27 and are still supported by Apple.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Happy iFixing.
