Function of the rubber hinge screw covers

On A1502 & A1398 models we have this rubber cover that sticks onto both of the hinge screws. What purpose are they for as any connecting cables do not seem to touch them.

There function is to contain the screws if they loosen up preventing them from escaping shorting across the logic board.

Engineers labor long and hard to predict possible failures that could become a safety issue or create a cost (onto Apple in this case) from a class action lawsuit! All they need to walk away is proving it was in the design and someone else took the part out invalidated the protection.

Makes sense but the screws cannot come that lose to fall out onto the board as they would hit the case with thread to spare before ompletely falling out..... never encountered them working that lose.
