My guess is no because zip ties are flat when plastic strings are round. Round strings flung out from its anchoring point at spinning speed tends to straighten out as it cuts vegetation. Zip ties are flat and may become ineffective as the flatness acts against air to move it up or down with the edge not cutting vegetation. There's also a balance issue if zip ties are attached incorrectly. Centrifugal force can create an imbalance resulting in vibration that may be unmanageable.
