Hi @gerardthoriso is it a steady orange LED or blinking?

On a Dell OptiPlex 9010, an orange (amber) diagnostic light usually signals a hardware or power-related issue. A steady amber light often points to a power supply problem, while a blinking amber light indicates a POST (Power-On Self-Test) failure, with the blink pattern revealing the exact fault.

if you have a spare power supply unit, you can try swapping out and see if it works.

else if

2. Blinking Amber Light

The blink pattern is critical. It follows a sequence like 2 blinks, pause, X blinks, long pause, repeat. Each code corresponds to a specific fault:

Blink Code - Problem Description - Suggested Resolution

2,1 - Bad motherboard - Replace motherboard

2,2 - Bad motherboard, PSU, or cabling - Test PSU, reseat cables, replace faulty part

2,3 - Bad motherboard, memory, or processor - Reseat/swab memory, test CPU, replace faulty part

2,4 - Bad coin-cell battery - Replace CMOS battery

2,5 - BIOS checksum failure - Flash latest BIOS version
