The 5th generation BMW 3 Series is based on the E9X platform. The car pictured is a E90 chassis. The E9X chassis was used from 2004-2013 when the F1X chassis was released. When talking about a non-specific chassis, this generation is typically referred to as the E9X chassis since there are multiple chassis for this generation of 3 series, depending on the body style (E90/E91/E92/E93).

335xi is not running at full power

Why do I continually get a message on dash that my BMW 335xi is not running at full power? Is this like limp mode? How do I solve the problem?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Hi @garyburgener

A quick way to find out what's happening is to get the vehicle's OBDII port scanned with an appropriate scantool and check what DTC codes (diagnostic troubleshooting codes) have been logged.

Once you know the code(s) enter them in here to find out what they mean and what could cause them to occur.

If you're in the USA, major auto parts retailers e.g. AutoZone, PepBoys, O'Reilley's etc will do the check for free apparently
