@erincastoe the purpose of orbital mode is to make the saw cut through wood faster by changing how the blade moves. Instead of just sliding straight back and forth like a regular saw, the blade moves in a looping, circular motion. This looping motion speeds up the work by:

1. as the blade pulls back, it aggressively scoops down into the wood to slice through it with maximum force.

2. as the blade pushes forward, it lifts up slightly to create a gap, which spits out the sawdust and debris so the blade doesn't get clogged or bogged down.

Orbital mode is perfect for wood demolition tasks like cutting down tree branches, ripping apart old wall framing, or tearing down a deck when you need to get it done quickly.
