Hi @razc

Try a full power refresh and check if that resolves the problem in case the BIOS has become corrupted preventing normal operation.

Disconnect the charger (if connected) and then open the laptop and disconnect the main battery and the RTC coin cell battery from the motherboard.

Unfortunately for you the RTC battery is on the underside of the motherboard so this will have to be removed as well.

Here's the hardware maintenance manual for the laptop.

Go to p.61 (67 of 114 pdf) and p.74 (80 of 114pdf) in the manual, to view the procedure to remove the battery and the RTC coin cell battery respectively.

When the RTC coin cell battery is out, measure its voltage. If it is <2.4V DC or if the battery is >4-5 years old, replace it. If the battery needs replacing, search online for 45N5864 to find suppliers that suit you best. (examples)

When you've done this, reconnect the RTC battery (or its replacement) reassemble the laptop in the reverse order to the disassembly procedure, connect the charger and check if it turns on OK with a display.

If it does there may be a message stating that the date and time are incorrect. This is normal as the BIOS has been reset back to its factory default state. Once the D&T have been corrected the message won't appear the next time that the laptop is started. Also any user definable BIOS settings that were changed by you to suit whatever operating requirements you had will have to be changed back again as well.
