There seem to be something jamming my garbage disposal it just makes a humming sound but does not run, I tried the reset button but that does not work, trying to avoid the expense of a Plummer

get a board and insert it into throat and attempt to break loose whatever is jaming it. You can catch the blades with the board and try to move it.
If you can't break it loose, then it may need replacement.
