@benjaminlawal check your keyboard connection on your motherboard. Make sure that it is still properly connected etc. Use a USB keyboard and see if that works. Check in your Device manager i fthere is actually a keyboard visible. If so, remove the old driver and reinstall a new driver.
If none of that works it is most likely a failed keyboard. Here is the Dell Inspiron M5040 15 N5040 15 N5050 Owner’s Manual Page 15 will show you how to replace the keyboard. Replacement keyboards are available at many online stores
