Sadly the display assembly will need to be replaced.

The LCD panel is a sandwich of two pieces of glass with some liquid crystal material between which it's optical properties gets altered when a voltage is applied across it.

The top piece of glass is thicker and is the common Anode, the back side is thinner and is the more processed side as it has the switching logic embedded within it. The technique to create this logic within the back glass makes the glass brittle so while you may not see any damage within the top glass the damage within the back glass might not be overly visible being mostly cracks when the display is off, but the effect of the image can be quite pronounced! With lines and areas cut off or even odd colors as the damage has broken the metal oxide wiring and switching logic within the back glass panel which is all transparent!

The only fix is replacing the display assembly and being sure not to break the display the next time.
