The PSP 3000 was released in the U.S. on the 15th of October 2008.

Why does my PSP shut off during booting

when i try to boot up my psp, it gets the the logo but then shuts off with a distinct click sound. i tried to adjust the battery so it sits properly and put a piece of paper inside it and tried to boot it, still didn’t work. i also tried to take the battery out and boot it while directly connected to the power cable. this still didn’t work. i also tried to take out the sd card and boot it, thinking that it could be because of a plugin. but this still didn’t work. any advice or help without having to tear the whole thing apart

Hi!

Is the PSP modded?

This is most likely related to the motherboard.

If it is modded, please hold the R button and power it on. If you get in the recovery menu, try to restore the software completely and try to update it as well.

If it’s not modded or if it fails in the recovery menu as well, then most likely you need to replace the motherboard.

Please let us know how it goes!

yes it is modded but when i try to press R it just does the same. i bought a new adapted and battery prior to this so i want to see if this works. otherwise i think i will try and get a refund from ebay because i haven’t really done anything apart from installing ark4, otherwise this is a total bummer because it has been less than a week since i got it that this has started.

Hi!

Yeah if you can get a refund that would be for the best.

My bet is that it is bricked. Could be something else motherboard related.

You can try that first yes, otherwise, please return it…

thank you lots

@dan0 any chance a battery/charger switch could fix it because i bought some thinking that i would have a working psp

Hmm, I don’t think that it will solve it. Especially that it’s “bricked” at one point, just after the startup scene, is pointing to firmware/motherboard. Same for the “click” sound. I personally think it’s bricked/corrupted firmware.
