I got the laptop a while back for 40 bucks off a friend and it won’t draw any power. I opened it and It looks like a capacitor shorted on the heat sink with the power pins. Need some help identifying it.
I have removed the old one and it is the one that went directly below the charging port in the photo

I believe you did all of this.
You need a voltmeter (or multimeter), first check the power supply plug, if it shows 0 the problem is with the power supply, if there is normal voltage, you need to check the socket on the computer, if it is also normal you need to check the output/input voltage of the battery.

I ordered a new power supply which works but still won’t boot. The battery is basically too broken to be used but it ran without it for months just off a power cable
