MacBook Pro A1398 got boot loop and not charge

Battery is completely discharged. Not turn on. If charger is plugged, it turn on but just keep boot looping. If charger unplugged, it turn off right away.

It is possible to enter Internet recovery mode, startup disk selection mode, Apple Diagnostics by using Startup key combinations.

But when I try to load recovery disk or MacOS boot disk(which show apple logo), it just boot loop.

I tried resetting SMC/NVRAM and it did nothing.

What's happening on my Macbook? I have no idea.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

To enter diags restart and press the D key you need to start there.

@danj I already tried, and error code was PPP003. But power adapter is fully functional(I tested on other Macbook Pro), and battery cycle was about 400. The battery is not in good condition, but it doesn't seem to be the cause of the current problem. Other Macbook Pro got 450 cycle and it works fine.

To start with the MagSafe port may need replacement, some knockoff chargers will error out. So you may need a real Apple unit! Sadly it's hard to tell the real from the fakes!

As far as the boot loop I would plug in a known good external drive with the needed macOS installed as a bootable drive after removing the internal SSD drive. Does the system boot up with it?

Copied from logiwiki:

"2015 dedicated graphics (820-00163, 820-00426)

These boards absolutely require a good charged battery to fully boot into macOS. As usual it's not uncommon to get 2 or 3 bad batteries in a row so make sure you are using a known good one, one that for sure works with others 15" 2015 DG boards.

With a bad battery or no battery, the machine will reboot during or at the end of macOS boot. In this case disconnecting the touchpad often allows it to boot fully since it causes throttling and lowers the overall power consumption of the machine."

Try disconnecting the track pad flex and check. If turns on and boots, try leaving MacBook plugged in for 24 hours or something to make sure battery is charged fully. If still has issue then could just be bad battery. Try known good battery then, if still an issue looking at power circuit on motherboard. Make sure to use apple original 85w charger if you can (want that one wire handshake)
