No Display outside of recovery.

Hi, im having a strange issue with an a3114 M3 Macbook Air.

On normal power on it chimes and flashes the power logo for a split second then goes black. When plugged into a dock I get video and it boots. But the Keyboard and mouse also are not working. Only showing the external display in MacOS

When I hold the power button for recovery options I get full display, the keyboard and mouse still don't work but the screen is fine... As soon as I click on options using an external mouse the screen goes blank but again works on external fine.

Im wondering if there is a shared power bus or something that could be shorted. I dont see signs of liquid damage inside the machine but anything is possible...

Anyone got any ideas?

Options

Within the lid hinge is a magnet which interfaces with a Hall sensor within the Uppercase. This sensor notes when the display lid is Down which tells the logic board not to power the display and the keyboard and trackpad as it's not accessable to squeeze out a little more power for the rest of the systems needs.

So... in your case that sensor is not working correctly. Did you have a bang or a spill which is the source of the problem? If not you may need to replace the sensor MacBook Air 15" (2024) AMR Sensor.
