It might be limited to 12-20GB, which is typical for the partially soldered PCs :-(. A lot of them stop at 12GB, but there's been a few that have begun taking the full 20GB -- you'll need to check the specs and give it a try to see if it can do 20GB of RAM.

This is officially a 12GB machine though: https://psref.lenovo.com/syspool/Sys/PDF... -- you'll know if it works if it doesn't POST, throws weird errors or stops at 12GB with 20GB installed.

Yes, in many laptops with 4GB soldered RAM + 1 slot, you can install a 16GB DDR4 2666MHz stick, making total 20GB RAM (4+16)—if the motherboard supports it.

Some models officially list lower limits (like 12GB), but practically support 20GB.

Key points:

Match RAM type: DDR4 SODIMM, same or supported speed

System will run part in dual-channel, rest in single-channel

Always check your exact laptop model specs before buying

If your model supports it, yes—16GB + 4GB = 20GB will work.
