The fifth generation Subaru Outback began production in 2014 for the 2015 model. This generation is classified as a crossover due to its larger body and wheelbase compared to previous models, and it retains the same 2.5-liter FB25 and 3.6-liter EZ36 engines introduced in the 2013 update.

@nehi59 what exact year and model is your Outback? Not opening by the hatch, with the key or with the power lock? We need to know exactly what you mean by "back hatch won’t open"
I have a similar problem with my 2018 Subaru Outback. When activating the trunk hatch to open (regardless from the handle, key fob, or the button in the driver area) the truck hatch opens slightly, then as if the trunk hydraulic stops working, stops lifting and falls to a quarter of the way open. I have to manually lift the trunk by pushing it to raise it up.
