Frigidaire water filter stuck

I have a side by side model FRSS2323AB8 and the water filter is stuck. I have looked at every youtube video about this problem and tried everything I could find. Most of the videos are for different models and the configuration is not the same. One of the videos has a technique that removes the screws that hold the manifold to this piece that has no purpose other than prevent access to the filter locking mechanism. I can't even get the screws out because there is some.. metal crap in the phillips head..
