How do I fix meta quest 3s controller button?

I got some wd40 to help with a stick drift issue, but some of the wd40 got onto one of the controller buttons, and now it's not responding to my input. I'm still able to press the button, but it doesn't make the same sound compared to the rest of the buttons on my controllers when i press them. It's been quiet after i heard a crunching sound when i pressed it after the wd40 i put on the joysticks was able to dry.

What do i do? Am i able to fix it, or do i need a new controller all together?

Hi!

Sound like the contact of the button is damaged. Depending on which button it is, I would replace it completely and see what happens.

Otherwise replacing the controller is a option, but let's check what we can do first.

Can you also sent us some pictures regarding the button? Thanks!

I edited my post to show a picture of the controller. It's the X button that isn't working. Nothing looks broken on the outside from what i can see.

How do i replace the contact of the button? Do i need to open up my controller to access the button contact?

Hi!

Yes, you need to open it up and check the button and rubber, clean it both with isopropyl alcohol. And please share a picture regarding the button inside the controller. Inside the controller is where you need to clean unfortunately.

I'll try to get my hands on some isopropyl alcohol soon. Do i need a certain tool/method to open up the controller? I don't wanna break the controller by accident.

Yes, you need a Torx (T)5 screw driver, tweezers and a pry tool, like a spudger.
