The Chevrolet Silverado, and its mechanically identical cousin, the GMC Sierra, is a series of full-size and heavy-duty pickup trucks manufactured by General Motors and introduced in 1999 as the successor to the long-running Chevrolet C/K line. The Silverado name was taken from a trim level previously used on the C/K pickup truck from 1975 through 1998.

@eringay what exact year, model and engine size are we talking about? What kind of noise? Loud knocking noise or ticking noise? Does the noise gets faster with an increase in the RPM's? How does the engine perform? Any excessive oil usage? You can always add a small video or audio file to your question so we can hear what you hear. Adding images to an existing question

Hi @eringay

Get the vehicle's OBDII port scanned with an appropriate scantool and check if there are any DTC engine codes logged. If there are any, the code will tell you what the problem(s) might be.

In the USA larger auto parts retail outlets e.g. AutoZone, PepBoys, O'Reilleys etc will do this for free apparently.
