Constant low humming noise when playing

My stereo cassette player (All Weather, CP-33, second hand) has a low buzz/hum that gets pretty annoying over long periods of listening. I use bad quality headphones to purposely turn it down but it is still there and noticeable. How do I get rid of this?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Hi @liamalidori

A humming noise heard in audio is usually caused by faulty filter capacitors on the power supply in the device.

Unfortunately I cannot find a service manual or a wiring diagram for the player so you will have to open it up to gain access to the motherboard and start checking the capacitors on the board.

Given the age of the player (1980s?) no doubt some of the capacitors are beginning to fail.
