Whirlpool GGW9250PW3 Dryer Control Panel Not Responding

HI Everyone,

Having a strange issue. If I unplug my dryer, then plug it in, most of the time the control panel will work. But it's getting to the point where unplugging it has stopped working. I did replace the system board, but the same issue persists. With the new board and the old board. If I open the door, the light on the inside turns on. If I hold in the "Control on" Button, the dryer will lock and if I hold the "End of Cycle" button, it will unlock the panel. But if I hit the Control on after unlocking it, nothing happens.

Is the control panel going bad? There isn't much to it, and I inspected the ribbon cable and it looks fine. It almost seems like there is a short somewhere? Any thoughts?

Hi @jasonschreifels

Disconnect and then reconnecting the power has the effect of resetting the control board so perhaps it is the control board that is the problem, however since you have replaced it (I assume you meant this board when you said "....replace the system board....") there must be something else that's wrong.

Here's the tech sheet for the dryer that may help to isolate where the problem is.

Go to p.4 and see if you can enter the Diagnostic Service Mode, as described by the sheet, and if you can check if any error codes are displayed. The error codes, their meaning and follow up tests are shown on p.3.

If you can't enter the Diagnostic Service mode, the follow up checks are on p.4.

If you find the problem and it's due to a faulty part that needs replacing, here's the parts list that is useful. Locate the wanted part in the list and note the part number associated with the part. Search online for the part number only, to find suppliers that suit you best.

If you search on YouTube for (insert wanted part number) replacement, sometimes if you're lucky, you'll find videos showing how to remove/replace the part.
