Can you hear if the disc is spinning after it has been inserted into the drive?
If it is try cleaning the dvd laser lens and check if that resolves the problem.
The easiest way to do this without disassembling the player is to purchase a dvd lens cleaner kit and use it to clean the lens (examples only).
If you can't hear the disc spinning or if cleaning the lens doesn't work, please confirm the model number of your dvd player as the service manual might need to be found to help find out what's wrong.
