The HP LaserJet 1020 is a compact, monochrome laser printer designed for personal or small home office. It prints with a resolution of up to 1200 dpi (effective) with a print speed of about 15 pages per minute. It has a high-yield toner cartridge which make it cost-effective for basic black-and-white tasks. It lacks modern features like wireless connectivity or color printing.

HP LaserJet 1020 roller identification and replacement

This roller inside my HP LaserJet 1020 has worn out, and printed pages have defects in correspondence of the roller wear.

Does anyone know the part's name and/or a part number so that I can find it? Maybe there also are some repair/disassembly instructions?

@dinoo_fixit that looks like the Transfer Roller Assembly HP part number is RM1-2093-000CN

To work on that, use the HP LJ 1010 1012 1015 1020 SM page 96 (83 in the manual) shows you how to do that.

Do you know if RM1-2093-000CN can be replaced with a RM1-0658-000CN? It's difficult to find

by

@dinoo_fixit looks like its not that interchangeable. RM1-0658-000CN is listed as being compatible with the following models:

HP LaserJet 1010 Printer

HP LaserJet 1012 Printer

HP LaserJet 1015 Printer

HP LaserJet 3020 printer

HP LaserJet 3030 all-in-one printer

HP LaserJet 3015 printer

HP LaserJet 1010 printer

Where are you located? Seems like even my least favorite seller has the roller

@oldturkey03 It's probably borderline universal - I can probably use a Pro 400 roller in a lot of the P20XX engines (2015/35/55) and the P3015. It's the same engine with things like duplex paths. The part number is enough with these HPs. Of course it's trust but verify, but you can probably do it. The newer ones post HP DS may not be as universal so 2016+ is iffy :-(. The good thing is me and so many others have stood firm on the HP DS issue and forced HP and others to keep making parts and toner for these available, or know which Canon engines to use. I did cave and go to a modern non HP some time ago due to the limiting formatter but I still run it.

@oldturkey03 EU, it'd be 9.99$ for the roller... and 73$ for shipping (without taxes, customs, duties etc; so the total would be even higher), I'll search more

@dinoo_fixit I wonder if my European fixer friend @benz78 has a source for this
