Comprehensive repair manuals for each of the six versions of iPod Classic sold from 2001 to 2014. Common repairs are battery and hard drive replacement.

Would this be easy to fix

My ipod is making like a clicking sound every few seconds when charging and i think the battery is swelling a bit, a slight darker(?) spot started growing once i was able to turn it on(photo attached). Ive never done any kind of tech repair at all and would probably take this in somewhere just to be safe but would it be worth it?

Well it depends... Apple no longer makes them so you might find a used one if you prefer the convenience of the iPod. I have two, one which holds my music library connected to my stereo system, the second I use when I workout at the gym as I have a sixth gen touch. I don't need the phone and my Apple watch if needed is on me.

From what you describe it sounds like the drive has failed as that's the source of the clicking. Review this guide iPod Classic Hard Drive Replacement

And yes the battery may need replacing batteries

The dark spot could just be some moisture between the cover glass and the LCD panel. In Step 30 in this guide iPod Classic Display Replacement you can see the cover glass, and here you can see the panel iPod Classic Color Display

As you didn't give us your exact model these guides and parts my not be the correct ones.

Replace a broken or damaged 2.5" (320x240) LCD display compatible with an iPod Classic with color display. Image
