new maytag washer question

we got this maytag washer and drier new this past june. and started to use it in sept when they let us in our new house and installed it.

i have a few questions?

1. why does it use hot water when we select cold wash and cold rinse?

2. why can't i get custom cycle to work?

3. why can't i get the fill level to change. at normal the cloths do not get fully wet until they start to spin out, and if we try the different levels only deep fill works and then that is really to much water?

4.when i turned off the hot water then the softener bowl never empties. so it seems it is not doing the softener?

so what might i be doing wrong? this should not be rocket science.

ok i just learned i need to use the app to do a custom cycle. so i set the app to water temp tap cold soil level heavy spin fast extra power off deep fill medium fabric softener.

i have not hit send cycle and start from appliance yet. so will i need to tap that before i start that wash load? or will i now be able to just tap custom cycle to get that cycle to run every time now

so now tell me when i wash not do i have to make the phone start the machine or now that i have set this on the phone it has been saved to the machines custom cycle and now i can just tap the custom cycle and the machine will do what i just programmed into the phone.

if i need to have the phone on and the app running i guess is will get an old phone and leave it at the machine so i do not need to run my phone app
