It's always a problem of where to start when you can see the power come on but there's no picture. The two most likely places are the GPU and the display itself; either one could be faulty.

Try connecting an external monitor; if you can get a picture there, the problem is most likely with the display; if not, you may have a failed GPU. Not sure about yours, but most modern laptops have an HDMI port that can be plugged into your TV for testing if you don't happen to have a computer monitor handy.
