Repair for Rechargeable Garden Lights

This might not be appropriate, but here goes...

The little garden lights that I've checked out (that people plant along their walkways) have an N-size rechargeable battery. The problem comes when the connection between the little solar panel and the battery fails. Or, is it something else that fails? Because they're all plastic, it drives me nuts to just dispose of them. Can anyone advise on a repair?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Hi @katzkrap

What is the make and model number of the lights (or if not known, post an image or a link showing what they look like - Adding images to an existing question)?

Could be various reasons why the lights don't work.

As you say it could be a faulty connection but this could be anywhere - solar panel, battery terminals, pcb board in the light, on/off switch (if it has one) or it could be something else such as water damage etc.

You would need to open one up to check what is causing the problem and if nothing is visually obvious, you would need to start testing using a DMM (digital multimeter) to find out what and where the problem is.

Opening the case will probably compromise the waterproof integrity of the light as generally they're not meant to be opened, but a silicone sealer usually works when closing it up again after you've hopefully fixed the problem ;-).
