If your phone is overheating that can cause it to switch off and restart, it's to protect itself from being permanently harmed by the excess heat.

So...

You need to stop doing things that make it overheat. Probably you have this problem when you are :

Gaming

Streaming or editing Video

Solution:

Don't keep doing that when the phone starts getting hot,

Don't do it while it's charging.

Don't do it when you are in a hot environment.

Don't do it at higher setting than you must.

DO limit how much you make the poor phone do when it's hot.

Do keep the screen no brighter than you need to.

Do let the phone cool before you charge it.

Remove the case to help it dissipate heat, (for charging too.)

Thing you do to keep cool when it's hot for yourself, also help it... except swimming...

In theory updating your software should also help... it might, or it might make things worse... some apps are poorly or even maliciously designed... including those from the most 'reliable' of sources. Keep an eye out for such apps and remove them.

If you employ the measures above and there is still a problem it MIGHT be hardware related, if so, holler for help again or take it for professional assistance. Or try a factory reset to clear up any possible software issues. (Back-up your data and know your account settings first to avoid data loss or being locked out.)
