Purchase one that has the midframe already attached to it. That will make this task a lot easier.

Should a new display not fix this issue, then you are having trouble with the main board. Could be the Touch IC circuitry. For that you will need the schematic, the board view as well as the proper tools to do a board level repair. Start with a new display.

While you work on your phone, take lots of pictures. Once you are done with it, take those pictures and create a guide for iFixit.
