The fifth generation van had debuted at the 2007 North American International Auto Show with exterior styling by Ralph Gilles.

My van will randomly not start.

We have tried to jump it but it won’t jump but then will randomly start without doing anything. Then today it started fine but the battery light was on but ran fine when I got to my driveway and turned it off it wouldn’t start back up. I had a short drive but in that time my air started blowing hot air but only in the defrosters. My front vents went blowing anything. My radio also wouldn’t work. To me that says alternator but would that also cause the problem I’ve been having for the past couple months of it randomly not starting? By random I mean it will get me from point A to B but might take an hour or more then will eventually start.

Answer this question I have this problem too

I'd recommend, if you can, getting a battery test done to read the Voltage and Cold Cranking Amps to see if its reading the batteries indicated rating on the sticker. If you can get a test done that also shows an "in vehicle" test, this should show the Voltage and CCA when the vehicle is off then prompt you to start the vehicle and it'll also show you the charge Voltage.

The Alternator may not be charging the battery properly, may need replacing.

Though not really ideal, I personally would replace both the Alternator and the battery just to cover all bases and see where it ends up from there. However I don't want you to go out and spend this money and find out the problem isn't fixed.

I would 100% recommend starting with a battery test.

I have a 2012 Dodge Grand caravan and mine also goes through these phases this past time it was starting great up until I went to the car wash one evening and washed my van and the next day at home it would not start my friend showed up to look at it and it started just fine for him multiple times as soon as he left to go back home the van would not start. To me it sounds like it's the starter it's not getting a fire to it it just literally goes click if you try to jump start it it does no good but it did drag down my friend's car greatly when we hook the jumper cables to it, I just find it out that it was doing great up until I went and wash my van and then it's like something got wet or moisture to it and it won't start except for in phases when it wants to a few hours later it won't what could it be is it the starter I'm almost at a loss can anyone help me.

Please and thank you for any help you can give me
